The North Augusta Greeneway runs along the Savannah River for more than 7 miles, connecting downtown North Augusta to Riverview Park and beyond. The trail is paved, flat, and free. It is one of the best urban trail systems in the western Midlands.

The Savannah River views are the highlight. The trail runs along the riverbank with views of the water and the Augusta, Georgia skyline across the river. The greeneway connects to the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area trail on the Georgia side, giving cyclists and walkers access to an extended multi-state route.

Tips from the field

  • The trail connects to the Augusta Canal trail on the Georgia side for extended mileage.
  • Riverview Park at the north end has picnic facilities and river access.
  • Morning and evening walks offer the best light on the river.
  • Free parking at multiple access points along the trail.
