Santee State Park sits on the shore of Lake Marion, the larger of the two Santee Cooper lakes, and offers some of the most unique camping in the South Carolina state park system. The pier cabins extend out over the lake on wooden piers, and waking up to the sound of water and the sight of the lake at dawn is an experience worth planning around.
Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie together form Santee Cooper, one of the best freshwater fishing destinations in the Southeast. The lakes hold world-class bass, catfish, and crappie fisheries across 170,000 acres of water. The park has boat ramps, fishing piers, and kayak access.
