Santee State Park Camping & Kayaking

Varies
Overnight to multi-night
Pier cabins on Lake Marion. Camping on Santee Cooper, one of the best freshwater fishing lakes in the Southeast. The pier cabins extend over the lake and are among the most unique lodging in the state park system.

Santee State Park sits on the shore of Lake Marion, the larger of the two Santee Cooper lakes, and offers some of the most unique camping in the South Carolina state park system. The pier cabins extend out over the lake on wooden piers, and waking up to the sound of water and the sight of the lake at dawn is an experience worth planning around.

Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie together form Santee Cooper, one of the best freshwater fishing destinations in the Southeast. The lakes hold world-class bass, catfish, and crappie fisheries across 170,000 acres of water. The park has boat ramps, fishing piers, and kayak access.

Tips from the field

  • The pier cabins book months in advance. Reserve early.
  • The fishing on Lake Marion is world-class. Bring gear or hire a guide.
  • Kayak access from the park puts you on one of the largest lakes in the Southeast.
  • The Santee National Wildlife Refuge is adjacent. Add a wildlife drive to your visit.
