The Chattooga Trail follows the east bank of the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River from Burrells Ford downstream through some of the most remote wilderness in South Carolina. The trail passes through old-growth forest, past river beaches and swimming holes, and through terrain that feels genuinely wild.
Burrells Ford is the primary access point and the most popular camping area along the Chattooga. Campsites along the river are primitive (no facilities) and are first-come, first-served.
