The Cherry Grove area of North Myrtle Beach has a tidal marsh system that offers a quieter kayaking experience than the more developed areas of the Grand Strand. The marsh channels wind through salt grass with views of the inlet, the barrier island, and the open Atlantic beyond.
Dolphins work the tidal channels regularly, especially on incoming tides when baitfish concentrate in the shallows. The marsh is also excellent for birding, with brown pelicans, ospreys, and herons common throughout the year.
The Cherry Grove inlet is a working fishing area, so expect some boat traffic on weekends. Weekday mornings offer a quieter experience.
