The only public beach access on Kiawah Island. A pristine 10-mile beach with tidal pools, loggerhead turtle nesting, and marsh paddling on the back side. One of the best beaches on the East Coast.

Beachwalker Park is the only public access point to Kiawah Island’s 10-mile beach. The beach is consistently ranked among the best in the country, with wide, clean sand, excellent shelling, and loggerhead sea turtle nesting from May through August. On the back side of the island, the marsh creeks offer excellent kayaking.

Tips from the field

  • Arrive early in summer. The parking lot fills by 10am.
  • Loggerhead turtle nesting season is May-August. Respect nest markers.
  • Tidal pools at the south end are best at low tide.
  • Marsh paddle on the back side is best on incoming tide.
